About 160 millions ago, the dinosaurs ruled our planet. Then suddenly about 65 million years ago, they became extinct. The reason behind their disappearance is "NUCLEAR WINTER".
The collision theory says that a huge meteorite crashed into Earth, and the explosion caused dinosaurs to become extinct. When the meteorite crashed into Earth, it caused lots of air pressure, and created a large crater.
Meteorites come in all shapes and sizes- some as small as dust particles. Most meteorites create friction with the air and burn up, but the large ones crash into the Earth surface.
The fragments of meteorites, that crashed into Earth, scattered everywhere as "Balls of Fire". And so, sadly many dinosaurs were badly injured or burnt. And when the fire finally stopped, there occurred a "Nuclear Winter".
When the meteorite crashed into Earth, the huge explosion of the meteorite and the Earth fragments caused the formation of thick cloud,around the Earth.
This thick cloud, made the entry of sunlight difficult.
Eventually, with very little sunlight, the Earth got very cold for a long time. This is called as "NUCLEAR WINTER".
